Brewery, Pub, Retail Sales, Brew-your-own, Homebrew Supplies
Hopsters is an all-around beer destination.
Run by husband and wife team Lee and Karen Cooper, Hopsters is a bit of a play on “hipsters,” but don’t let that fool you — anyone with a passion for beer, or simply a desire to learn more, is definitely welcome here.
In addition to the usual brewpub fare, drafts, cans and whatnot, Hopsters sells supplies for homebrewers. They also have a very cool “brew your own” service, wherein you and a couple friends can delve into the art of brewing sans the costly investment in equipment. This sort of service has been around in the wine business for years, but is still rather uncommon among breweries. As of now they’re offering a number of price levels and packaging options and it really is an attractive option for brewfans who are not homebrewfans.
A related venture is “Hopster Alley,” a well-stocked outlet of high-end craft beer in Boston proper. It’s located in the Boston Public Market, which is near Faneuil Hall. They seem to have a fairly reliable supply of Lawson’s, Captains Daughter, Night Shift, and other desirable stuff.
Add it all up, and the Hopster phenomenon is a force to be reckoned with in the Boston brew scene.
